CHAD LOWE’S FATHER PAYS HEARTBREAKING TRIBUTE TO GRANDDAUGHTER FIONA, 13, AFTER HER DEATH

Charles “Chuck” Lowe, the father of actor Chad Lowe, has shared a heartbreaking tribute to his 13-year-old granddaughter Fiona following the devastating news of her death.

Chuck posted a photograph of Fiona smiling while swimming in a pool on Instagram on Wednesday, September 30.

“Rest in peace sweet Fiona,” he wrote alongside the photo.

The simple message came just one day after Chad Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter, publicly confirmed the loss of their daughter.

The family said they were “deeply heartbroken” by Fiona’s passing and remembered her as a loving young girl who was smart, creative and passionate about dance.

“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents,” the family said in a statement shared with PEOPLE. “In fact, she was the light of our lives.”

As news of Fiona’s death spread, members of her school and local community also began mourning her.

A source told PEOPLE that Fiona was “sweet, quiet and kind” and described dance as her biggest passion.

“She had a very artistic soul,” the source said, adding that she was known for being kind to other students.

The school community was reportedly informed about the death by the principal, with counselors made available to students and staff who needed emotional support.

Friends and members of the community have continued to remember the teenager as a well-liked and creative young person.

Her family has asked for privacy and prayers as they cope with the loss.

Fiona was the second of Chad Lowe and Kim Painter’s three daughters.

Chad, 58, and Painter, a television producer, are also parents to Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.

Fiona celebrated her 13th birthday in November 2025. Around that time, her father shared a loving message celebrating her transition into her teenage years.

“Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!” Chad wrote alongside a photo of his daughter.

The family had also appeared together publicly several times over the years. One of their final photographed family appearances came at the February 2023 premiere of Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur in Burbank, California.

Chad, Kim and their three daughters posed together on the red carpet, with Fiona standing alongside her younger sister Nixie.

A grandfather’s quiet farewell

Chuck Lowe’s tribute has drawn an outpouring of sympathy from people mourning alongside the family.

His photograph of Fiona captured a much more ordinary moment — the teenager smiling in a swimming pool — as the family remembered her away from the spotlight.

The loss is especially painful for Chad, who has spoken publicly in recent years about how important fatherhood has been to him.

During a podcast appearance, he described raising his daughters as an extraordinary privilege and spoke about how becoming a father to girls had changed the way he viewed the world.

His family has now been left grieving the loss of one of those daughters.

Family asks for privacy and offers mental-health resources

The Lowe family has not publicly disclosed the cause of Fiona’s death.

In their statement, however, they included information for people experiencing mental-health struggles, encouraging anyone in crisis to contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

That reference has prompted increased attention to mental-health support, while the family has emphasized that it needs privacy during this deeply painful period.

Fiona’s death has also deeply affected her school community, where classmates and friends have been given access to emotional support.

For those who knew her, the focus has remained on remembering the girl her family described as loving, intelligent, creative and full of life — a daughter, sister and granddaughter who was deeply loved.

And through a single photograph and a few quiet words, her grandfather Chuck offered his own farewell:

“Rest in peace sweet Fiona.”
