SECRET NOTE REVEALS LINDSAY CLANCY WANTED A FOURTH CHILD — MONTHS BEFORE THE TRAGEDY
A previously private note found on Lindsay Clancy’s phone has revealed a deeply personal detail from the months before the deaths of her three children.
Clancy wrote that she wanted another baby — a fourth child.
But the same note also described intense emotional and physical struggles that she said were making motherhood increasingly difficult.
THE NOTE FROM NOVEMBER 2022
The note, dated November 3, 2022, was presented to jurors during Clancy’s ongoing Massachusetts murder trial.
In it, Clancy described wanting a fourth child while simultaneously struggling with depression, anxiety, exhaustion and difficulties bonding with her youngest child, Callan.
She reportedly wrote about feeling guilty that she could not give Callan the same attention she had given her older children.
She also described difficulties with breastfeeding, sleep training and the overwhelming demands of caring for three young children.
A DETAIL THAT NOW CARRIES A DIFFERENT WEIGHT
At the time the note was written, Clancy was a mother of three.
Just weeks later, her mental health would become the center of an increasingly serious crisis.
The defense argues that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and that medication and inadequate medical coordination contributed to her deterioration.
Prosecutors dispute that explanation and argue that Clancy was criminally responsible for the deaths.
NO EVIDENCE SHE WAS ACTUALLY PREGNANT
Despite claims circulating online, the newly revealed note does not establish that Clancy was pregnant with a fourth child.
It establishes something different:
She wanted one.
That distinction is important.
There is currently no reliable evidence in the latest courtroom reporting that she was expecting another baby while incarcerated or during the current trial.
THE TRIAL CONTINUES
Clancy has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges in connection with the deaths of her three children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months.
The defense does not dispute that she killed the children but argues that she was not criminally responsible because of severe mental illness.
The prosecution, meanwhile, has presented search history and other digital evidence that it says supports its theory that Clancy acted deliberately.
More than 70 prosecution witnesses have already testified as the trial enters its fourth week.
ONE SECRET NOTE.
A DESIRE FOR A FOURTH CHILD.
A MOTHER DESCRIBING HER STRUGGLES.
AND A TRIAL NOW EXAMINING WHAT WAS HAPPENING INSIDE HER MIND.
The note does not answer the central question of the trial.
But it gives jurors another glimpse into Lindsay Clancy’s state of mind in the months before the tragedy.
Based on publicly reported courtroom evidence. Claims that Lindsay Clancy is currently pregnant with a fourth child have not been verified and are not presented as fact.
