RADIO HOST, 29, KILLED ALONGSIDE MOTHER-IN-LAW AND BROTHER-IN-LAW IN BIRTHDAY HELICOPTER CRASH

A birthday celebration turned into an unimaginable tragedy after a helicopter crashed and caught fire in Quebec, killing four people — including a 29-year-old radio host who left behind a one-year-old daughter.

Gabriel Jasmin, 29, was among those killed when the helicopter went down near Sainte-Brigide-d’Iberville, in Quebec’s Montérégie region, on the afternoon of September 26, 2026.

His mother-in-law, Chantal Raymond, and her son, Loucas Perreault, also died in the crash, along with the pilot, Suzanne Jutras, 50.

A BIRTHDAY RIDE THAT ENDED IN TRAGEDY

The helicopter trip had been arranged as part of Chantal Raymond’s birthday celebrations.

The aircraft came down in a field at around 2:30 p.m., approximately 50 kilometres southeast of Montreal.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene after the helicopter crashed and caught fire. Quebec provincial police said all four people aboard were pronounced dead at the scene.

For the family, what had been planned as a special birthday experience became a devastating loss.

Gabriel’s partner, Océane Perreault, later revealed that she had lost not only her partner, but also her mother and brother in the same crash.

In a heartbreaking tribute, Océane wrote that the helicopter ride was supposed to celebrate her mother but instead became a tragedy she could never have imagined.

She said three people she loved more than anything had been taken from her “far too soon.”

GABRIEL LEFT BEHIND A ONE-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER

Gabriel was a radio host at Énergie 106.1, a Bell Media station serving Quebec’s Eastern Townships.

His death was announced by the station, which expressed its condolences to Océane, their young daughter and Gabriel’s family, friends and colleagues.

Gabriel and Océane had a one-year-old daughter together.

The young child has now lost her father, while Océane is grieving three members of her immediate family at once.

Océane described Gabriel as an “extraordinary father” and remembered the love and family life they had shared.

She also wrote the haunting words:

“A part of my world flew away to heaven.”

A FAMILY OF THREE LOST IN ONE CRASH

Océane’s mother, Chantal Raymond, was celebrating her birthday when the helicopter ride took place.

Her husband, Martin Perreault, paid tribute to his wife, whom he had been married to for nearly 40 years.

He wrote about the life and family they had built together and remembered their son Loucas as his “pride.”

He also described Gabriel as an “extraordinary father” who was attentive and loving.

Océane said losing her mother, brother and partner at the same time had left her struggling to put her grief into words.

The three passengers were identified publicly by family members and friends following the crash.

THE PILOT WAS ALSO KILLED

The fourth victim was Suzanne Jutras, 50, an experienced commercial helicopter pilot.

According to reports, Jutras had more than 500 hours of flying experience.

Her partner, Yves Boulais, said she had been conducting her second helicopter trip of the day when the crash occurred.

Jutras was also known for providing helicopter rides at events, including the Les Félixeries festival in Saint-Félix-de-Kingsey.

Festival organisers remembered her as a passionate pilot and offered condolences to her family and loved ones.

INVESTIGATION INTO THE CRASH CONTINUES

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.

Police initially indicated that the helicopter appeared to have experienced difficulties before the crash, later clarifying that it had been returning when the aircraft went down.

Investigators from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada attended the crash site as authorities began working to establish what happened.

Quebec’s coroner’s office is also examining the deaths.

At this stage, authorities have not established a definitive public cause for the crash.

Canada’s Transport Minister Steven MacKinnon said officials were monitoring the investigation.

For Océane, the tragedy has left her grieving three people who were central to her life while caring for the young daughter she shared with Gabriel.

Her tribute captured the devastating reality of losing so many loved ones in a single moment.

Instead, September 26 became the date her family will remember as the day everything changed.

Gabriel was only 29.

He leaves behind a young daughter who will grow up without her father, while Chantal and Loucas are mourned by a family whose celebration became an unimaginable tragedy.
